Kellisa and the Monster Tube

May 7, 2010- Lisa gets an email with the following subject: WATER SKI EVENT- REGISTRATION OPEN !!!!

The opening paragraph of the email: "It is time for our first 2010 Water Ski Clinic! We will be hosting an Adaptive Ski Clinic on Saturday, June 5, 2010, at beautiful Victory Lake on the Westside of Jacksonville. We are fortunate to have Ann O'Brine-Satterfield back with her U CANSKI 2 team to share their expertise. Ann is a winner of 6 National and 2 World Championship titles!!! You do not want to miss this event"!

Long story short...not knowing a single thing about water skiing and Kellisa's love for adventure...we did not hesitate to register Kellisa. Kellisa's water time was 12:45pm and it was hot and sunny. The adaptive skis were extra wide with a seat centered on top. Two volunteers would ski on the sides of the adaptive ski for support and safety.

As Kellisa's time approached, the volunteers worried about Kellisa riding on the ski alone, especially since this was her first time. We knew she could do it, but stepped back and trusted the experts. They came up with idea of Kellisa riding in a "Monster Tube" with a volunteer and two water skiers on the sides.

Kellisa waiting her turn in the cool waters with a volunteer:

Not surprisingly, Kellisa enjoyed every second, even yelling and signing more when the tube came to a rest. Word on the shore is that there will be another water skiing event in August...
