Jekyll Island (08.10)

To end Kellisa's summer break, we spent a few days on Jekyll Island.

Our campsite:

Driftwood Beach at dusk:

The next day getting ready for a bike ride to the beach:

We had the beach all to ourselves:

Relaxing back at the camper:

Again, we had the beach all to ourselves. We were hoping to have some fun between the brutal heat of the afternoon and the evening thunderstorm that was approaching:

We had about an hour before one of those "end of the world" thunderstorms started. We quickly packed our stuff and began the one mile bike ride back to the camper. It was raining so hard that I couldn't see Lisa only a few feet in front of me on the bike path. It was so loud that I could barely hear Kellisa laughing out of control while enjoying the downpour. Our campsite had 4 inches of standing water by the time we returned. We spent some time giggling before showering and getting dry.

Turtlehead Peak, NV (6,324ft.)

$1,500........Las Vegas business trip at the last minute.
Priceless......Finding that you have several free hours to drive 15 miles west to hike a mountain, descend the wrong gully and barely make it out of the park before it closes at sundown.

Mother's Day 2010

Lisa decided to spend Mother's Day kayaking with friends and family. We kayaked for several hours on Julington Creek in Jacksonville. The put-in park is new and only 5 minutes from our house, making it a perfect choice for a peaceful afternoon on the water.
